How long do you have to wait in ireland after you quit your job to get the dole?

if you get fired or quit its an 8 week wait before they start processing you , that's 8 weeks after they get your p45 /60 ,some employers are slow issuing them as they have not paid tax /prsi for that person yet ,, you need to get paper work into social .asap.
they process people that were laid off ,made redundant first ,and rightly so.
your friend can sign on and then go to the nearest ,Health board clinic ask at dole office , they will be issued with emergency payments ,every week to cover things such as the rent ,, this will be deducted from social welfare when it comes through , they can also apply for rent assistance as another payment , where the social will pay a % of their rent
