Yes you can get paid to take online surveys. I started about a year ago because I needed some extra pocket change, and so far I've accumulated about $200. But just be cautious of the sites that make you pay to get started or take forever to give you money. I would suggest signing up with as many legit sites as you can. So far these are what I have been doing, and they are very good:

Toluna Surveys: http://www.Toluna.com
ERGSURVEYS: http://www.ergsurvey.com

  • All online survey panels are different - some will award you points that can then be exchanged for cash, others will send you gift vouchers and still other will let you earn merchandise.

The amount paid per survey depends on the length of the survey and the complexity of it.

Legitimate survey panels won't sell your information and they will certainly not call you. Do your researh first though - make sure you are indeed registering with a legitimate survey panel before you provide any of your information online. Look for a privacy policy, terms of use agreement, etc. When in doubt, simply look for another panel.

You can register with as many or as few survey panels as you wish. And you can also unsubscribe at any time.

    Best of luck!

  • Rather than online surveys, there are plenty of advertising agencies that are always looking for focus groups to get opinions on advertising / products within certain demographics. They may call you once every two months and ask you some preliminary questions to see if you're suitable for that particular focus group. Just ring them up and tell them you're interested.

For example, (in Australia) my very first one was a beer one (believe it or not). There were 4 separate groups of 8 strangers. They paid us $60 each to sample the product (2 beers each), showed us some story boards and new tv advertisements to see which ones we liked. Asked us a heap of questions about what attracts us to the product and opened it up for general controlled discussion. They can be fun.
I have done pizza ones, car ones, Subway, etc. In Australia, they generally pay about $30 an hour
  • Some are legit, some pay you it's a lot of trial and error. Search around the forum board and you will find what people think are good ones.

I never give my phone number to any survey company until I get paid at least once.

You can sign up for more than one but Normally its one account per household.

  • Yes you can make money, but you don't make very much. My favorite site (the only one I've found worth while) is swag bucks. Swag bucks uses a google based seach engine that gives you a chance to win "swag bucks" when you search. But its slow because you can't just spam searches, only the first 20 searchs you do per day have a chance of winning. you get an average of 1-5 points per day by searching. Since i search everyday anyway I use swag bucks to make a bit of extra cash. I've gotten a couple 10 dollar gift cards so far and a 50 dollar card.

  • YouGov and Lightspeed are good for earning cash and they are trustworthy. Each survey pays points but this can be changed into money once you reach a certain amount.
There are more on these sites for the UK: http://www.paidsurveyselector.com and http://www.surveysthatpayyou.info
  • I have hundreds of friends and associates. None of the guys/girls have ever made any money on these on line ventures. If they would have they would be talking about it and I would be in on it…..SCAM
